Marshal Georgy Zhukov (1896-1974)

Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov (1.12.1896 - 18.06.1974) was the most respected, distinguished, decorated (apart, perhaps, from L. I. Brezhnev) Russian general of the last century. He was also the most betrayed by those whom he served (Soviet rulers Stalin and Khruschev) who invariably first used his talents at the time of turmoil, and got rid of him afterwards.

To the right - Zhukov in 1940 (when he was still an Army General in charge of General Staff of the Russian Army). Above (the first photograph from the right is Georgy Zhukov at the end of WWII).
