Russian airborne troops are 80 years young!

Today Russia marks the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Russian (Soviet) Airborne Forces (paratroopers). The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Airborne General-lieutenant Vladimir Shamanov has confirmed that the government is not planning at the moment to reduce the strength of the Russian paratroopers, hoping that by 2017 the famed VDV (Vozdushno Desantnye Voyska - Airborne Forces) will be able once again to deploy an airborne division from the sky at once (as in the old times).
